tulum ruins

Day two was one of the hottest days the entire week. We ventured into Tulum itself, to see the ruins and take in a bit of shopping. A big group from the wedding went, which allowed us to pile into two small vans and get to know lots of other people. First stop was the ruins themselves, and I was feeling very hot - Sam was in the carrier and I really noticed being away from the water. It was difficult to get the full effect of what we saw, but while sitting under a tree breastfeeding Stew and I imagined what it was like many years before. Anna saw lots of iguana's, many of them at close distance. The best part was heading back to the shopping area for an ice cream. We picked up a few local gifts - Anna a guitar, Sam got some maraca's and we headed back for a swim and naps. One of the best parts of the day was being able to play life sized checkers with Stew. Anna helped him stack up all my pieces, Sam was nice enough to cheer me on and we ended off day two with a great Mexican meal.
