at the farm

Anna had the day off on Friday from school, so we took advantage and spent the weekend at the farm. It was nice, a whole two days of pulling all the toys out of the garage, going to the barn, seeing Faye, Paul, Pat, Great Grandpa, and Nana. Grammy and Tompa have a large number of lady bugs in the upstairs windows on the west side of their house. They think its because of the cold late spring we are having, needless to say, I've found 3 so far that came home with us!

The percussion is alive around here - Henry has joined us on the tambourine, and he just loves it.

visiting anna's classroom

We got a tour of Anna's Kindergarten class today, we went to see all the work they've been doing for spring, and it was impressive! Lots of popcorn words, lots of flowers in the shop, they are learning about bugs and butterflies, doing some math, and even went on a walk to learn spring poetry words. Anna showed us the great Van Gogh inspired paintings, chicks for Easter, as well as new books they are reading. It was a great visit, as it allowed Stew and I to catch up with her teachers, get a great progress report and she loved having us visit. She enjoyed showing us all her hard work, and what they are learning about. Her reading is getting really good, and she's practicing all her letters. Today they even had a Blue Spruce party to vote on their favourite fiction book in the Kindergarten category - Anna took blueberries, and she told me she voted for Audrey. After we visited, we celebrated by chewing gum, and Anna told me she wants to be a lifeguard or a teacher when she grows up.

spring has sprung

The weather is starting to get warmer, and boy, I did not expect Ontario spring to be this long coming. Apparently on our street, this winter has been long, one of the coldest some say in a very long time. Today marks the first day in the upper teens, with sun, a warm strong sun beaming down on us. We've been to the park a number of times, dug in the sand, and flew Sam's new kite. Henry now has three teeth, he's scooting on his bum in all directions, which has required all of us to watch him extra carefully. We saw lots of baby calves when we were at the farm for Easter, and even more cats, which Anna adopted one and named her Brown Eyes. I am eagerly waiting to see what my garden looks like, Anna's been learning about flowers, words that end in 'ng' like spring and our robin count is now at 17, spring, yeah, we are so glad to finally see you.
