seven whole months

This cute as a button baby is seven months old! He has the cutest chuckle of a laugh, his hair is really coming in, he loves food, so far everything we've fed him, including Anna's hair. He is the most patient and forgiving guy around, he doesn't have any teeth yet, but sticks everything in his mouth, and really loves chewing his toothbrush. He is very certain when he wants something, and is not afraid to tell us with a big, loud cry. His skin is lighter like Anna's, but his hair is darker, and as he gets older, I find them all looking very different. Only when I dress him in Sam's clothes do I really see them looking a little similar. He definitely has a personality like Sam - silly and cuddly. Case in point....6:15am this morning, Sam came downstairs looking for everyone - we were all still sleeping, so he sat outside Stew and I's door, waiting for us to wake up. I heard him, and brought him in, and asked him why he was up. He said he was cold, and our bed was warmer. He curled up beside Stew and went right to sleep. We couldn't believe it....for one, our kids don't sleep in our bed, two, Sam never goes back to sleep at this time, you just have to hug him.

a celebration of sorts

Friends....it's March break, Sam is in underwear all the time, Anna is heading to ballet camp, it's Friday, green day in Anna's class (when I said 'do your best leprechaun that's the dance she gave me) and we saw green grass today! We are celebrating around here, we are feeling like we are entering a new phase with our kids - they are getting bigger. Sam started in the pre-school class at daycare this week, and he will be in this class until he heads to JK next year, next year, I can't believe it. We are carrying around less kid gear and the lightened load feels good, a bit of freedom, and abit of excitement as we plan our summer vacations and see where we can go.

springish

Henry and I have returned from our girls weekend away in Collingwood, and the return has brought us warm weather, an ice rink on extreme melt, Sam in underwear almost all day, lots of cuddles and 'I missed you', tulips and best of all. smiles and hugs from everyone all day. Today the weather reached a high of 5, and our neighbours tell us the melt will be fast and furious, which is welcomed, as a few people on our street were without water due to frozen pipes. Today marked the last skate for us on our rink - Sam has moved up out of his bobskates, to big boy skates and is loving them. He is using a new training wheel system called skateez, which is very good for kids not yet ready do go on their own. They both have been skating so much this year, we can't believe how much they've improved. The rink has been a huge bonus for me, as we've been at home a lot, and it's allowed Anna to go out after school while I am busy in house, see friends and even get us out for exercise. We will miss you rink, but look forward to spring mud bogs and rain wear, 11 weeks of awesome, thank you Hosers.

he's chewed all these toys

Even the drum and bumbo chair if we'd let him - I think he's getting close to a tooth, we'll see, it just might be his love of food, hair and giving us all very wet kisses.

in our kitchen

A big Costco trip started off Grammy's week here in Guelph. She is here to help Craig while Kate is away in South America, but she spent lots of time at our house in the day, and one of those days was doing a big cook day. We made enough pasta sauce, chili, soup, stew and a sweet and sour chicken dish to stock both Kate's and our freezers. I tell you, this is the way to do batch cooking - pick your recipes, clean out your pantry and fridge (or then pick your recipes), do your shop - it makes the cook day easier and fun! We made 24 meals (for 4), at a cost of $4.00 per meal. The Costco prices make it worthwhile, and the portions are hearty and freeze up easy in bags. The 10lb bag of carrots was almost the same size as Henry! We are glad to have lots of healthy meals on hand, especially on days when some of us don't get enough sleep, or want to be outside skating on the rink and then come inside for an easy meal. Thanks Grammy for all the help. we will be eating well for awhile.

P.S - that's Anna making her fudge, yum!
