the little things

That help you reflect, put things in perspective and make you hug the ones you love just a little bit tighter every night....

:: kicking off the first big yard sale of the season with a new bike for Anna and retro dishware (and enjoying that I paid $2.00 for said bike and they 'threw in' some books)

:: making a duck pancake by accident

:: going for a spin on your new bike

:: saying 'airport' and pointing every time a plane flies by

:: Anna thinking that bra pad inserts are hats

:: homemade apple pie from Aunt 'Ka-tee',

:: getting the garden prepped and starting our 'veggies' indoors

:: eating your second breakfast with your Dad

We again want to thank our friends and family for your ongoing support, love and comfort during this time - it is your thoughts and prayers that continue to help us heal and grow stronger every day.

feeling grateful

For the most amazing friends, family, health care system, neighbours, work colleagues, network of resources, nurses and doctors.

This has been a very difficult week for us. A rollercoaster of emotions, including shock, sadness, guilt, anger and frustration - all feelings that come with the loss of your unborn child at 13.5 weeks. We are moving through waves of acceptance and clarity, and have moments of peace and understanding on why nature takes this path.

I have learned a lot this week about the human spirit, how truly resilient we are. When we first left the hospital after hearing the news it was raining. It was as if God was crying, our first real rain shower of the year. But when we came home today together, the grass was green and spring was upon us. Signs of growth and a new beginning, just what we need to heal.

i am lovin'

:: a sister in law who is the most crafty person I know

:: the way they laugh together, and how her face lights up when he enters the room

:: that the snow is almost gone

:: dinosaur sized Easter eggs

:: her willingness to try new things, despite being just a little unsure

:: how well these two play together with more than 10 years between them

:: the feeling of spring in your hands

:: spending the holidays with family

words of the day

I wasn't planning on doing a post tonight...lots of dishes, laundry, Glee and this Mama is tired, especially on a night when Stew is out - however going over the day in my head I had to sit down at the computer and write. Because as of today, Anna's vocabulary has been just spilling out in all directions.

Here are the new words we can report: airplane (she hears the planes flying over our house, Stew and I actually just realized we tuned these noises out...), dough, choo-choo (for train), arff (for dog), more, Rena (one of her teachers), Andrew (one of the Dad's at Daycare), Ompa (my Dad), book, roar (for tiger) nana (for banana) and Oilers. Stew is very pleased about that one...

Overall, she is like a walking sponge, every new thing she sees she points and tries to describe it. Her teachers are very pleased, and told me tonight that at the end of April she will be graduating, and moving up to the next class - Lady Bugs. The kids here are 18 months to 2 years and they feel she is very ready to make the switch.

it's spring, inside

We are refusing to let this weather get us down, so we packed up our beach bag on Sunday and went to the pool. Lounge chairs around the deck, warm humid air, steam room and a freshing dip in the pool was just what we needed to kick those cold and snowy temperatures. Anna did great, she was interested in jumping into the pool off the edge, I wasn't even that brave.

today was...

Full of the most beautiful trees (front of the house, tree out Anna's window and out the back), brush painting, dancing, having pancakes for dinner, lots of warm baths and watching my new favourite show season finale.

a day for celebration

Yesterday we celebrated the end of a great weekend with a fresh pasta dinner - both with fresh noodles made by Anna and Stew and sauce made by me.

We have lots to celebrate here...two annual reports done, one Intranet launched, a press conference and two AGM's finished, a few birthday's and last but not least the welcoming of a new member into our family, yes, we are pregnant, again! So very excited to be welcoming another little red come the beginning of November.

You've been probably wondering about all these food posts of late, we'll, that's me. I have been craving everything from fresh pasta to popcorn, banana splits and pudding, oh, it's all so good.

No hiding this baby bump anymore friends.

____________

Our home computer is almost fixed, but if anyone is trying to reach me via email, I apologize, we have been out of contact for awhile on our home email address - please send a message to my facebook account, we are close to getting back online.

an aggie kind of day

:: we walked with neighbours

:: we made butter

:: we got to pet baby chicks

:: we saw 8 day old piglets, a very large horse, goats and a cute baby lamb

:: we ate hot dogs

:: we made rope

:: we ran around all the halls and stairs of Stampede, including a rodeo ring

:: we napped for 2 hours when we got home

___________

On a side note I ordered Anna's Easter gift tonight from this great site, and finished one of the best books I've read in ages - if you are looking for a touching, funny and incredible book about dogs, The Art of Racing in the Rain is yours, thanks Dad, loved it.
