olympic fever

We hosted friends to watch a most excellent Opening Ceremonies - our favourite parts were the large drum, fiddlers, killer whale scene, the olympic poem and the amazing group of people that carried the olympic flag in. Well done Canada.

Anna is enjoying all the sports (she laughed at the ski jumping, she really did!), and of course we are greatful for some warm snuggles, lunch time soup and curling up with her - kinda nice to have some down time together after some busy weeks leading up to the games.

corners of our home

We are starting a new series here - every Friday we will be featuring a corner of our home, that way everyone can get a peak inside our windows on where we spend a lot of our time.

Today's feature is Anna's room - by request I'm starting here, as everytime I seem to get around to take a picture it's dark or she is in there sleeping...well not today.

Anna has our other bedroom upstairs, infact it is a very large room, as one of the smaller bedrooms was removed a few years ago (this is what our neighbour tells us, his house is the same as ours, built in 1912). We painted this room in 2008, around this time of year, just before Mom got her wisdom teeth out and it is the same green as the rest of the house (I believe it's from Debbie Travis' heritage line at Canadian Tire, which I love!)

Most of her room theme came from these wall decals - they are very fun, (removeable) and she loves them. The only new thing here is her crib which was a gift, the dresser we found in our basement when we moved in and the rocker is from my Great Grandmother Goyne and was given to us by Chris when my Great Uncle Ray passed away.
Oh, couldn't help but include a few pictures of Anna - enjoy!

timeraising

Anna has been hanging out with the great folks at Timeraiser this week - we hosted them for dinner last night and helped select artwork tonight for the Calgary show in June. If you haven't heard of this event, check it out - a great way to start volunteering in your community. Anna logged 2 hours already...well, she's got time.

graduation part 2

Her new play gym - thanks Faye and Paul for the Christmas gift cards, they have been well used.

(Grammy, I know you're wondering why her sleepers are undone - big spit up and someone wanted to play over going to get changed, I wouldn't blame her, this thing is fun!)

graduation

Since coming back from Ontario, Anna has been kicking, jumping and well, just plain on the move. So much so, we've gotten rid of the old chair and graduated to a bigger one. This one doesn't have a pig, but a mirror and she's okay with that. She's still not sold on the jolly jumper, but that's okay, I'm keeping that one in my back pocket for later.

I'm really liking this 3 month milestone, sleeping through the night, good feeds, can't wait to see what 6 months brings...gulp....food and a whole lot of the unknown, just when we were getting the hang of things!

what a gift

Yes, Stew surprized both Anna and I with the best gift ever upon our return - the oven is fixed! We are putting it through some serious work outs this weekend, thanks to Uncle Paul we are hooked on fresh bread.

Special thanks to Aunt Kate for babysitting tonight - we got away for a wonderful meal and adult chat - a very fine gift indeed. Gives you the chance to reflect, take a step back and jump back in for more, so very much more.

a babysit and a bank

Thanks to Great Grandma and Great Grandpa for babysitting yesterday while Mom and Grammy did a little shopping. We were successful in getting Anna her first piggy bank - a baptism gift from the Great Grandparents.

On another note, happy Groundhog Day - the start of February, one of my favourite months (and movies) - why? - well, there's Valentine's Day (and our annual Lady and the Tramp night), Family Day weekend and it's usually a short month. We also usually get a chance to strap on the showshoes and head out to the mountains - get ready Dad, we are coming...

We celebrated 90 days today, wow - just a little wiser on the ways of the world, with a lot more learning ahead of us. Happy three month birthday Banana, we love you so.

visiting

Lots of great visits are happening this week and a whole lot of sleeping on people is being enjoyed. Happy to report that Tompa is getting stronger every day - we are giving him lots of snuggles on some cold and very windy days.
